About the Speakers


Christina H. Koch, Astronaut, NASA

Christina H. Koch was selected as an astronaut by NASA in 2013.  She completed astronaut candidate training in 2015.  Koch graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Physics and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.  She most recently served as flight engineer on the International Space Station for Expedition 59, 60 and 61.  Koch set a record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman with a total of 328 days in space.​ To read Christina's full bio: PDF


Ann Playter, Chief Operating Officer, ATHENA International 

After retiring in the fall of 2015, Ann Playter sought a way to give back. She found her passion with ATHENA International. ATHENA is an organization that has been supporting, developing and honoring women leaders for over 38 years. She joined the ATHENA International Board in May of 2016, quickly transitioned to board chair and joined the staff as Chief Operating Officer for ATHENA International in 2019. It is Ann’s goal to reach women, at all levels of their life and career, to develop personal and leadership skills that ensure their success at anything they choose to pursue.
