Marketing Executive brings over 25 years’ experience within Fortune 100 and startup technology companies

SAS, the leader in analytics, today announced it has appointed Andrew Dixon as Vice President Marketing of SAS Canada and Latin America.  The former Microsoft Canada Head of Marketing is well positioned to support the pioneering innovator in analytics as it looks to build demand for key market drivers like cloud, big data, and the Internet of Things.

“Analytics are driving powerful innovation and growth by enabling better, smarter, real time, fact based decisions, said Andrew Dixon. “I am thrilled to be working with the leader in analytics who is well positioned to support the big data technology and services market- a market that according to IDC is projected to grow six times the growth rate of the overall information technology market.”

SAS reported its 40th consecutive year of revenue growth in 2015; growing customer demand for risk, fraud and security intelligence analytics. SAS posted US$3.16 billion in total operating revenue, up 6.4 percent in constant currency (2.3 percent US dollars) over 2014. New software sales increased 12 percent in constant currency (8 percent US dollars) – a testament to an ever-growing demand for SAS® Analytics.

SAS total revenue growth was strong worldwide. New sales revenue percentage growth reached double digits in most regions, showing the effect of successful globalization efforts. In 2015 SAS Canada and Latin America’s revenue grew 12 per cent over 2014.  To support its ongoing growth, SAS will increase headcount in these regions by 15% in 2016, investing analytics skills in sales and professional services roles.

Mr. Dixon comes to SAS with over 25 years’ experience within Fortune 100 and start up technology companies and brings a full toolbox of theoretical and practical marketing and business leadership skills. Before joining SAS, Mr. Dixon was Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Operations, Igloo Software Inc., where he defined and executed the global marketing strategy. As Head of Marketing for Microsoft Canada he oversaw business operations including growth planning, competitive strategy, and customer satisfaction in addition to marketing strategy.

"I am pleased to welcome Andrew to the SAS team,” said Adele Sweetwood, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing & Shared Services, SAS. "Andrew brings the experience and expertise SAS needs as we look to grow the success of our business in Canada and Latin America and embrace the new modern marketing landscape.”

SAS leads in advanced analytics market share (per IDC) and is a leader in agile business intelligence, according to Forrester, and is poised to remain at the top.  IDC identified SAS as the top supplier, owning 33.3 percent market share of the 2014 advanced and predictive analytics market, more than twice that of the next-closest competitor.
