About the performer

Derek McLean

Derek McLean hails from Collingwood, Ontario, although some of his early music days were spent busking in Ottawa and performing in several downtown venues.  For 20 years, he has been performing with The Strange Potatoes at shows, corporate events, and festivals around Ontario.  He also frequently does solo shows that have a mostly-request format.  While this can be a roll-the-dice approach to a live show, most audiences are kind and don’t aim too far from standard requests. Rock, pop, and alternative are in his wheelhouse from many decades and there is a smattering of country and rap, if needed.   Music and fun should go hand-in-hand, and that’s what he aims for.
