An Executive’s Cheat Sheet on Open Source, Hadoop, and SAS
Tamara Dull, Director of Emerging Technologies – SAS Best Practices
Free. Geekware. Not ready for the enterprise. Hard to support. Not secure. This is how some would classify open source, but are they right?
During this interactive session, we will tackle these five common misbeliefs, and explore how open source software continues to change the enterprise technology landscape, with a particular focus on the rapidly changing world of big data and the Hadoop ecosystem. We will also take a look at the oft-overlooked plusses and minuses of integrating open source software into your traditional, tried-and-true proprietary environment, including SAS.
If you’re looking for a simplified, yet informative explanation of today’s open source big data technologies, then this session is for you. Come prepared to test your open source smarts.
The Creation of an Open Source Ready, Enterprise Analytic Platform
Steve Holder, National Analytics Lead – SAS Canada
Since the inception of Hadoop, SAS has tightly integrated our development to allow organizations to maximize the value of their data in Hadoop through the use of SAS analytics. With the ongoing adoption of Hadoop and other Open Source projects, it’s important for organizations to grow and innovate. As a commercial software vendor SAS is not only tightly embedded in Hadoop technologies, but also committed to building a platform that’s open, unified, simple and cloud ready.
In this session we’ll walk attendees through how SAS is innovating to create the next generation enterprise analytic platform, SAS Viya. We’ll share the architectural themes and approach of SAS Viya that extends Open Source and elevates analytics for all SAS customers, new and old. With a focus on the entire analytic lifecycle, SAS Viya will help customers get more value, faster - whether that be from SAS 9, SAS Viya or Open Source.
With SAS Viya it’s not an either or decision; it’s an AND decision with open source. SAS’ goal is to be the enterprise analytics provider for all organizations, allowing them to leverage past, present and future architectures.
