Dan Donovan is a Manager and Sr. Solutions Architect in the Security Intelligence Practice at SAS®. He is responsible for providing pre-sales and business consulting support for software sales activities focused on fraud detection, claims analytics, and investigation management solutions for the property, casualty, life and disability insurance markets in the Americas.

Mr. Donovan has 23 years of experience in insurance and investigations. Before joining SAS® he spent 18 years working for Liberty Mutual Insurance in a variety of claims management and investigation leadership roles. He held positions as Director of Special Investigations, Director of Liability, Manager of Special Investigations, Regional Manager for Auto Physical Damage, Claims Manager for Bodily Injury, and started his career as a Claims Adjuster and Special Investigator handling complex claims and provider fraud investigations.

Dan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Anselm College, and is a certified Fraud Claim Law Specialist (FCLS). He served two terms on the Board of Directors for the New England International Association of Special Investigation Units (NE-IASIU). He has been a featured speaker at insurance industry educational seminars including the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU), and the ISO Insurance Fraud Management Conference

Rachel Alt-Simmons
Principal Industry Consultant

Rachel Alt-Simmons is an analytics and technology professional with more than 20 years of experience developing and integrating business analytic and technology strategies. Having worked across North and South America, she’s helped Fortune 500 organizations build and continuously improve their analytic competencies.

She started her career in the mutual fund industry and moved into business intelligence and analytics leadership roles at The Hartford, where she built out an analytic competency center within the Global Wealth Management division.

Following that, she spent two years as Research Director for the Life and Annuity practice at the industry analyst firm TowerGroup/CEB before returning to the insurance industry. Rachel joined Travelers Insurance as part of a strategic leadership team to transform business intelligence and analytic capabilities, and went on to create an enterprise analytic center of excellence.

In addition to her work at SAS, Rachel is an adjunct professor and agile coach at Boston University in the Computer Sciences department, teaching Agile Software Development, IT Strategy, and IT Project Management. Rachel is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, PMI Agile Certified Practitioner and PMI Project Management Professional.

A frequent industry speaker, writer, contributor and thought leader, Rachel is currently a Principal Industry Consultant in Financial Services where she consults with companies across Canada, the U.S. and Latin America on the strategic use of analytics, and defining integrated approaches to aligning business and technology strategies.

Rachel is also the author of Agile by Design: An Implementation Approach to Analytic Lifecycle Management (Wiley Publishing, 2015).

Tina is Senior Solutions Specialist at SAS, who is passionate about helping people understand how High Performance Analytics, coupled with the right data provisioning strategy can deliver tangible benefits to their business.  Tina has been working with Canadian insurers for the last 4 years and has helped these organizations architect their analytics solutions and realize the full value of the investments they have made with SAS.  Tina has been a SAS for 15 years in a number of roles ranging from Professional Services, to Education as well as Pre-Sales.
