SAS and chemical incubator BlueChem form strategic partnership

Advanced analytics to support the development of sustainable chemistry

SAS will be one of the strategic partners of BlueChem, the first incubator in Belgium to focus specifically on innovation and entrepreneurship in sustainable chemistry, such as the valorisation of waste and by-products, process optimization and the development of renewable chemicals and sustainable products.

BlueChem is a unique collaboration between industry, knowledge institutions and government with the joint ambition to guarantee and strengthen the future of the economically important chemical industry in Flanders.

SAS has long been a recognized partner of companies in all sectors, including the chemical and life sciences industry, with customers such as Prayon, Siemens Healthineers and Solvay. SAS helps businesses to get the best out of the available data.

For this partnership, SAS will make the advanced analytics platform, including advice, available to start-ups and scale-ups based in BlueChem. This will enable them to work with data in a scalable way.

With the SAS platform – including machine learning and artificial intelligence – SAS enables organizations to industrialize analytical models and deploy advanced analytics in daily operations, and thus:

  • Optimize processes
  • Enhance capacity and efficiency
  • Reduce energy consumption
  • Improve quality and reliability

For decades, SAS has been striving to use its technology to create a better world by developing software not only for commercial applications, but also to address economic, social and environmental issues. SAS sustainability initiatives promote the targets of clean energy, climate action and sustainable cities and towns. The partnership with BlueChem fits perfectly within this objective.

“With this collaboration, we want to offer optimal support for both our loyal customers and the customers of tomorrow. The partnership with BlueChem fits perfectly in our strategy to continue to support innovations and transformations”, says Wim Mues, Sales Director Manufacturing at SAS for BeneFraLux.

With a $1 billion investment in Artificial Intelligence last year, SAS clearly showed a strong commitment to continue its research of new advanced technologies such as advanced analytics, machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing (NLP) and deep learning. But also in training and expert services that ensure organizations are equipped with the skills and support they need for the digital transformation of their enterprise.

“The importance of big data and artificial intelligence in the chemical industry is increasing rapidly. Both to make industrial processes safer and more efficient, and for research and development. Thanks to the partnership with SAS, we can offer start-ups and growth companies in BlueChem the digital technology to use data to optimize and accelerate their innovations in sustainably chemistry”, says Frank Beckx, chairman of BlueChem and managing director of essenscia vlaanderen, the sector federation of chemistry and life sciences.
