Joe's Bio

Building on more than 15 years of industry experience and academic research expertise in a variety of areas, Joe Nyangon, PhD, leads the design and development of advanced analytics solutions that drive revenue growth for the power and utilities industries. He creates and delivers innovative business, domain-driven thought leadership to differentiate SAS in the energy analytics marketplace.

Joe proactively assists clients in navigating trends that drive changes in electric power systems. In particular, he advises firms on how to use advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT and analytic automation to generate insights that inform policy design, improve risk pricing strategies and guide electricity planning decisions.

Focused on improving go-to-market strategy, Joe's recent market innovations include engineering new value propositions for SAS' analytics platform. These innovations have received funding grants from the US Department of Energy, including an evaluation of regional industry clusters and energy infrastructure modernization in the southeast region of the US and techno-economic and life cycle analyses of carbon capture and storage in Texas.

Joe is a member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council. He has published one book and more than 60 articles in scientific journals related to his areas of research. He holds PhD, MSc, MPA and BSc (Eng.) degrees from Columbia University, the University of Delaware, the University of Greenwich and the University of Nairobi.
