SAS Corporate Responsibility sustains success for everyone

UNC-Chapel Hill heralds SAS’ commitment to corporate social responsibility

While many organizations think about supply chains and shareholder expectations, SAS concentrates on sustaining talent. SAS considers people its greatest asset.

“With no shareholders demanding short-term returns, we can focus instead on the future. That’s why we invest in an engaged workforce, sustainable operations and a strong community – we want everyone, not just SAS, to be successful,” said SAS CEO Jim Goodnight.

SAS’ corporate responsibility overview for this year integrates 2013 performance measures, showcasing environmental reports using SAS® Visual Analytics. Content is highly searchable easily linked to for the company’s clients and partners.

Among recent developments, SAS is now a Partner in the U.S Department of Energy’s Workplace Charging Challenge, which calls upon America’s employers to make a bold commitment to provide PEV (plug-in electric vehicle) charging access to their workforce.

“Business are putting more emphasis on making a difference in the world around them,” observed Adam Levenson of UNC School of Government’s Masters of Public Administration program in a recent MPA@UNC Blog post. “Good citizenship improves corporate citizenship improves conditions in local communities, but also ultimately yields higher returns as it forges deeper connections with customers who care about social good.”

Levenson lauded SAS as a leader in corporate social responsibility. “The SAS Executive Sustainability Council works to ensure sustainability in the company’s operations. SAS is also involved in supporting educational programs including Communities in Schools,, and YMCA of the Triangle. Through the Employee Volunteer Fund, SAS contributes to the education-focused nonprofits where employees volunteer.”

The 23rd building on SAS campus in Cary, Building Q, is expected to become the company’s seventh LEED certified building when the application process is complete. Opened in October 2014, Building Q houses SAS Solutions OnDemand, supporting our customers’ growing demand for SAS Cloud analytic solutions. Cloud implementations lower the cost of hardware and infrastructure for customers and lower resource usage by reducing the technology footprint.
