About the Experts

DJ Penix, President and Founder, Pinnacle Solutions

DJ Penix is the President and founder of Pinnacle Solutions, an Indianapolis-based analytics and business intelligence solutions provider. Founded in 1996, Pinnacle Solutions has been building prominent analytics, reporting and data management solutions in industries such as manufacturing, pharmaceutical, health and life sciences, insurance, hospitality and entertainment, financial, retail, education and government.

In 2014, Penix led the company’s efforts to expand the business and to provide cloud-enabled solutions. A formalized partnership with Amazon Web Services augmented the longstanding partnership with SAS.

Today, he has expanded the business to offer a wide range of leading-edge cloud analytics services, including IoT analytics, forecasting, data mining, machine learning and deep learning. Penix graduated from Kalamazoo College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science.

 


David Frede, Principal IoT Product Manager, SAS

David Frede develops advanced and predictive analytics solutions that focus on product quality and asset utilization for manufacturing and industry. His experience spans from plant floor control technologies like PLCs and drives through production management (MES) systems, ERP systems, and advanced and predictive analytics.

Before working at SAS, Frede worked with Rockwell and General Electric. He earned a BSEE from Kettering University and a master's in finance from DePaul University. 

 


Bryan Saunders, Head of Industry Consulting for Americas IoT, SAS

Bryan Saunders provides thought leadership and expertise in IoT analytics. He helps customers uncover value and improve business outcomes from a growing volume of connected devices. Saunders specializes in improving service delivery, asset utilization, equipment reliability and overall product quality. He works closely with product marketing and sales teams to ensure the direction and solutions of SAS technology meet the needs of the market.

Before joining SAS, Saunders worked for General Electric supporting manufacturing and quality solutions. He has deep experience in equipment condition monitoring and reliability, having served as the Data Management and Analytics Engineering Manager for the GE Power & Water business unit. Saunders supported remote service delivery for the electric utility market.

He has more than 20 years of industry experience in the manufacturing and utilities industries. Saunders is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and has a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
