SAS a strong performer in data governance tools according to independent research firm

SAS is a “Strong Performer” in “The Forrester Wave™: Data Governance Tools, Q2 2014” from Forrester Research Inc. The new report details how well each reviewed vendor fulfills Forrester’s criteria and where they sit according the data governance 2.0 journey. According to the report, “Data governance has shifted from a technology management endeavor to a business imperative,” and SAS® Data Governance is “well positioned to manage data governance for the SAS Analytics and Marketing solution.”

SAS was among a select group of 10 companies that Forrester invited to participate in the report. The companies were examined on 25 criteria including current offering, strategy and market presence. The report notes that data governance can provide a key competitive advantage for businesses.

According to Forrester, “It is not enough to collect data policies and rules; business data stewards need capabilities that align to the processes and management of data as a ‘new’ business asset.”
