When looking to benefit from the new applications represented by mobile data services and content, Europe's leading telecommunications providers rely on End2End. Denmark-based End2End's managed service solutions are currently powering the delivery of data services and content across more than 50 mobile operators in 20 countries – for companies such as Lycos Mobile, MSN, Nokia, Orange, Sony NetServices and Vodafone.

Because it operates in such a highly competitive market, End2End relies on SAS as one of its differentiators to provide customers with the business intelligence required to maximize revenue and stay ahead of the pack.

"Mobile data services have developed beyond peer-to-peer SMS and ring tones," says Mikael Aagaard, End2End's customer services manager. "The latest trends involve mobile music, video clip downloads, and video streaming and broadcasting, which will drive significant increases in usage and revenues in the next few years," he says.

"Prices of traditional services, such as voice, are dropping in most countries, resulting in operators needing to find new ways to drive revenues," Aagaard says. "Mobile data services is one of the areas expected to drive significant revenue growth in the near future."

Providing unique value
End2End offers a unique value to its customers, who deliver mobile data services and content to millions of end-users. In addition to providing managed service solutions that include technology, content, and professional services, End2End also provides detailed reporting capabilities.

"End2End reporting is based on SAS," Aagaard says. "We decided from the beginning that we would like to have a solution based on SAS because we knew the company and also because, with our infrastructure, we have many different sources of data that need to come together to provide detailed information to our customers."

End2End's reporting capabilities differentiate the company from the competition, he adds. His group works with customers on performance issues, such as providing insight into how to enhance downloads. "In a market like this, everything is moving very fast," Aagaard explains. "What's news today is old stuff tomorrow. Our customers need to have accurate, up-to-date information that will allow them to switch a piece of content because it's not selling or to promote it even more because it's selling very well. And, of course, they need the reports we provide to see if sales are going as predicted."

For example, End2End provides customers with clickstream data to show which pages are being viewed and where potential users are exiting the site before making a purchase. End2End's customers can use this information to make improvements that will lead to increased usage and revenues.

Meanwhile, End2End powers the delivery of mobile data services and content to enable their customers' end-users to download the latest Britney Spears tune, for example, and their favorite games, while also sending video clips to their friends and family.

"It's appealing to people to be able to communicate in ways other than just talking to one another," Aagaard says. "Another thing is that network operators, looking to get the biggest return on their investment from their own networks, are promoting mobile data services such as talking on the phone while at the same time showing a video of you."

"End2End chose SAS for reporting in order to be a leader in its space," Aagaard adds. "In fact, customers say they tell other similar companies that if they want to provide reporting services, they should follow End2End's lead."

"We're known as one of the companies with the best reporting facilities of all," Aagaard says. "We know our SAS solutions have been a success because our customers have told us we're doing a great job. I'm not sure that we could have found a company other than SAS that could have covered the whole process, from extracting and loading data to actually giving our customers the ability to create reports. And it certainly wouldn't be as easy to add new customers."
