SAS/STAT® 9.1 Experimental GLIMMIX Procedure
for Windows


Overview
The GLIMMIX procedure fits statistical models to data with correlations or
nonconstant variability and where the response is not necessarily normally
distributed. These models are known as generalized linear mixed models (GLMM).
The GLMMs, like linear mixed models, assume normal (Gaussian) random effects.

Conditional on these random effects, data can have any distribution in the
exponential family. The binary, binomial, Poisson, and negative binomial
distributions, for example, are discrete members of this family. The normal,
beta, gamma, and chi-square distributions are representatives of the continuous
distributions in this family.

The GLIMMIX procedure provides much of the functionality provided by the
%GLIMMIX macro. It is available only by download. For documentation for the

Note that the GLIMMIX procedure installation requires a local standalone
installation of SAS (whether installed through a network install or a local
install).

System Requirements

Software Requirements
SAS 9.1, or a later version, running on a SAS-supported 32-bit Windows operating
system. Base SAS and SAS/STAT must be included in the SAS installation.

Hardware Requirements

Machines Supported
A PC with an Intel Pentium family processor is required. Pentium-compatible
processors are also acceptable. A clock speed of 233 MHz or higher is
recommended.

Memory
A minimum of 64MB RAM is required; 128MB RAM or more is recommended.

Download file size: 2.9 MB
Free space required to install: 3.6 MB
Space used after installation: 3.9 MB

Installation Instructions

1. If you have not already done so, install SAS according to the Installation
Instructions shipped with the SAS media.

2. Ensure that you have sufficient disk space. The GLIMMIX procedure requires
approximately 5MB of disk space during installation.

3. After you have downloaded the file from the Web page, double-click on
SASGLIMMIX.exe to start the installation process.

Using the Software

To use the GLIMMIX procedure, simply execute it as you would any other procedure
in SAS/STAT software.
