What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a notification system used to alert individuals when new content is available on a Web site. To read or subscribe to an RSS feed, you must use an RSS feed reader or a browser with an RSS reader built in (Internet Explorer 7, Firefox and Safari all have built-in feed readers). Feed readers are special programs that can monitor, retrieve and then translate RSS feeds that are provided to them.

For more information on RSS, read our brief RSS FAQ or this article from DigitalTrends.com on how to use RSS. You can also explore Wikipedia's articles on Web feeds and RSS.
