Why You Shouldn't Miss This Webinar

Learn how enterprise business intelligence integrates data from across your enterprise and delivers self-service reporting and analysis, giving you the information when you need it, in the format you need.

In addition, you'll get an inside perspective on successful application of SAS® Business Intelligence from California Independent System Operator (CAISO). A SAS customer since 2006, CAISO is a nonprofit public benefit corporation charged with operating the majority of California's high-voltage wholesale power grid.

Jeff McDonald, PhD, Manager of Market Analysis and Mitigation for CAISO, will discuss how they developed a flexible BI environment where market analysis can be easily migrated to the portal environment and scheduled to run automatically or interactively with different parameters.  Learn how the company was able to optimize a large volume of stored processes to produce, distribute and archive reports – all managed and scheduled through the BI environment.

Presenter

Jeff McDonald Jeff McDonald, PhD
Manager of Market Analysis and Mitigation
California Independent System Operator

Jeff McDonald has worked in the monitoring, analysis and design of wholesale electricity markets for more than 10 years. While a market analyst, he developed considerable hands-on experience monitoring general market performance, performing analysis of market and behavioral issues from the energy crisis, and has contributed to the design of the current nodal market design. For the past five years, he has managed a team of market analysts performing similar functions.

McDonald led the effort to design and implement a state of the art market monitoring system at the California ISO that provides automated, detailed and dynamic market metrics for tracking trends and detecting and analyzing anomalous market outcomes and behavior in the multi-product, multi-period nodal spot market for wholesale electricity in California.
