A 2005 RCMP report on Economic Crime showed that fraud against government is rising in Canada. While the scope of crimes, like GST fraud, remains unknown, it’s estimated to cost taxpayers billions of dollars. On GST-related charges alone, the RCMP convicted nearly 300 offenders between 2000 and 2003, representing more than $41 million in misappropriated funds.

With this in mind, it’s easy to see the enormous challenge that government faces in preventing fraudulent claims, waste and abuse.  In many cases, data management issues make it difficult for government agencies to clearly identify and understand the different factors and drivers behind fraud and erroneous payments.

Join us for an exclusive breakfast seminar featuring former FBI and Bank of America Executive, Chris Swecker and Joe Pendleton, Former Fraud Detective and Director of the Special Investigations Unit of the Government of Alberta. This thought-provoking presentation will provide strategies for combating fraud, waste and abuse. You will learn how to:

  • Reduce erroneous payments and duplicate billings through identity resolution and identifying information in your IT systems.
  • Identify probable fraudulent transactions and prioritize suspicious activity for further investigation.
  • Track program purchases, payments and costs to ensure they are necessary, proper and justified.
