Nicolai Jacob Friis-Hasché has been working within the financial industry for many years. His work has been focused on optimizing banks: e.g. using model-based approaches to optimize customer segments (business segments and risk segments), branch network, risk-based pricing, management information and Basel II.

Recently, Friis-Hasché has implemented risk management systems within both large and medium-sized Danish banks. Risk management must be integrated with a bank’s daily operations in order to be effective. His focus has been on the rating of customers, risked-based pricing, limit models, Basel II parameter estimates, solvency calculations and monitoring and reporting of risks.
Another major focus area for Friis-Hasché has been to help make companies compliant with regulations and providing sufficient documentation on the effectiveness of risk models and their implementations within daily operations. Short bio
Simon Haldrup
VP for Economic and Regulatory Capital

Simon Haldrup has a theoretical background as cand. polyt. (Master of Science in Engineering) with special focus on leadership and management theory.
After graduation, Haldrup was engaged by Danske Bank as project manager for several major development projects within risk management, and he was in charge of implementing a strategic data warehouse project.

Haldrup moved on with his career as head of the department of Credit Risk Modeling at Danske Bank. His primary objective was to manage Danske Bank’s regulatory and economic capital, covering areas like solvency, risk-weighted assets, economic credit capital and stress testing.
Currently, Haldrup is Vice President for Economic and Regulatory Capital at Danske Bank, where his area of responsibility is covering risk-weighted assets, economic capital, implementation of risk and capital in the bank's business model.
Other areas within Haldrup’s domain are implementation of risk and Basel II and addressing the new regulation of Basel III. Short bio
Karel Lannoo

Before joining CEPS, Lannoo was employed in the cultural sector, working for the Italian conglomerate Ferruzzi and for a professional federation. He was also active as a freelance journalist for specialised publications.
Lannoo's areas of expertise include the European Monetary Union, banking and financial markets, financial market regulation, corporate governance; retail finance & consumer credit, and EU business policies.
He has published books and articles in specialised magazines and journals on EU, financial regulation and corporate governance. Lannoo has also spoken at several European Parliament and European Commission hearings and participated in studies for national and international bodies (EU institutions, OECD, ADB, World Bank).

Carl began his career in the Actuarial Department of life insurance company before moving on to become an assistant manager at the largest life insurance actuarial team in Malaysia at the time. Carl joined the General Insurance Association of Malaysia as Actuarial Manager in 2000 and was appointed as the CEO of ISM in 2005. Carl holds a Bachelors Degree (Hons.) in Actuarial Science and is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner (UK). Carl has also completed a Certificate in Takaful Practice in 1996 and Project Management Professional in 2008. In 2005, Carl became the first Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) from the insurance industry in Malaysia. Carl has more than 15 years of life, non-life and takaful industry experience.

He drove thought leadership especially in the area of how GRC should be aligned to strategy and day-to-day business execution. Kulwal also served in the pre-sales role group for SAS OpRisk Management and helped to implement performance management frameworks such as activity-based management, management dashboards, and balanced scorecard for clients across multiple industries.
