SAS appoints Ian Manocha as VP of Government, Mark Wilkinson to lead UK & Ireland Operations
24 April 2012 - SAS, the leader in business analytics software and services, today announced the appointment of Ian Manocha as Vice President of Government for EMEA and AP. As previous Managing Director for SAS UK & Ireland, Manocha is succeeded by Mark Wilkinson, who will lead the organisation's operations and further strengthen SAS' leading position in exploiting big data. Both appointments follow SAS' 36th profitable year as organisations seek to uncover business opportunity in burgeoning data stores through the use of advanced analytics.
Manocha will be responsible for leading the company's business in the public sector, building strategic partnerships with the government supplier community, and developing the company's corporate relationship with governments and public bodies across EMEA and AP. During his 16 years at SAS, Manocha has advanced from sales director to country leadership to EMEA Board Member. Over the last four years of Ian's leadership, SAS UK & Ireland has been a top-performing region and has brought many best practices to the rest of the global organisation, including innovative breakout plays and enterprise-level deals. SAS is now ranked as the 14th Best Company to work for in the UK in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies listing, achieving the highest possible rating of three stars. Over the last three years, Ian has also successfully developed a new international business line for SAS in policing, security and national intelligence, including the Memex acquisition in 2010. The SAS Public Security business will continue to report to Ian in his new role.
Wilkinson joins SAS after more than four years at Oracle, where he ran the UK Applications organisation and was a member of the UK Management Board. He has been closely aligned with the BI market for over 12 years after joining Oracle through the acquisition of Hyperion in 2007, where he headed up the Northern European Region. In his new position, areas of focus will include expanding the direct sales team, driving channels to market through alliances, and continued growth in SAS UK & Ireland service offerings, which are key to delivering levels of customer satisfaction unmatched in the industry.
"We are very pleased to have an executive of Mark's caliber, experience and strong track record to take the UK & Ireland business forward, and I am also very pleased that Ian will be leading our growth plans in the public sector and contributing to the company on an international basis," said Mikael Hagstrom, Executive Vice President for EMEA and AP. "This is an exciting time for SAS – if big data is the new oil of the 21st century, then high-performance analytics is what will energize the new economy, with the promise of contributing billions to the economy through inclusive growth and stimulating thousands of new jobs in the coming years."
"This is an extraordinary time of change in the public sector, and SAS is well-paced to drive a transformational agenda in areas such as tax and welfare, job creation, health, public safety and fraud management," Manocha said. "I'm pleased to have the opportunity to lead our government business and to be able to hand the UK & Ireland business over to such a capable successor."
"I am delighted to be joining SAS," Wilkinson said. "As the leader in business analytics, SAS is very well placed to help organisations compete and differentiate themselves, as we emerge from a challenging business environment. I am very excited at the huge opportunity SAS has to continue its success in the analytics space and look forward to working with a wide range of customers, including many blue-chip companies, and the wider SAS organisation."
