SAS and Teradata Extend In-Database Analytics Leadership, Capabilities

Deeper integration, more offerings help customers make faster, more accurate decisions

19 October 2009 -  Two years into their strategic partnership, Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the world’s largest company solely focused on data warehousing and related services, and SAS the leader in business analytics software and services, continue to expand in-database analytics options by introducing their newest Advantage Programme offering: Business Insight Advantage. In addition, the two companies have participated in more than 350 global customer engagements spanning multiple vertical markets – demonstrating the rising business priority in-database analytics are becoming for cutting-edge companies.

The Business Insight Advantage programme is an end-to-end offering that uniquely combines the Teradata database platform with the SAS® Business Analytics Framework. Business Insight Advantage dramatically accelerates the deployment and execution of business analytics by leveraging specific Teradata features with the SAS framework, which includes data integration; model development and deployment; forecasting and reporting. Customers can now effectively scale and operationalise in-database analytics across the enterprise, bringing fact-based analytical insight to front-line decision makers.

With new Advantage programmes and in-database integration capabilities, SAS and Teradata have grown their joint customer base significantly since the partnership was established. From one of its newest joint customers, Commercial International Bank (CIB) in the Middle East, to a leading Spanish telecommunications company and well-known financial institutions and retailers worldwide, SAS and Teradata are delivering valuable new offerings to industries all over the world. The forthcoming SAS Credit Risk Advantage for Teradata represents a key vertical offer within the Advantage Programme.  Targeted at the financial services industry, this offer consists of SAS software integrated with the Teradata platform and jointly delivered services for regulatory credit risk capital measurement and management.

“Our joint customers continue to realise significant value when SAS functions, procedures, and solutions leverage Teradata’s scalability and parallelism. This is even more powerful with the recent release of Teradata 13,” said Rob Berman, SAS Global Programme Vice President at Teradata. “With SAS 9.2, several SAS procedures can now execute in Teradata for analytics – giving our users the very best business value proposition for accelerating queries and delivering maximum analytic performance. The tighter integration of SAS in Teradata, alignment of our engineering teams, direction from our joint Product Advisory Council, detailed in-database roadmap, and aggressive joint go-to-market strategy has made this possible.”

“SAS and Teradata continue to make significant in-database processing advancements,” said Russ Cobb, SAS Vice President of Alliances and Product Marketing. “Our growing customer base is seeing considerable revenue growth and cost savings by leveraging SAS analytics and solutions with Teradata.”

Today’s announcement was made at the annual Teradata PARTNERS Users Group Conference and Expo in Washington. Visit SAS at Booth 301 or Teradata at Booth 307 for more information about the partnership, as well as available and planned offerings.
