SAS customer Wolters Kluwer wins Gartner and 1to1 Customer Award

CRM experts recognise innovative customer-based business strategies 

12 November 2008 -  Wolters Kluwer, a leading global information services and publishing company, was honoured recently for its innovative customer-based business strategy with a silver 2008 Customer Award for Customer Strategy from Gartner and 1to1 Media. SAS, the leader in business analytics software, powers the solution that helps Wolters Kluwer better understand and offer more to its customers.

The Gartner & 1to1 Customer Awards honour companies that provide value to customers and shareholders by effectively bringing together strategy, technology and execution to deliver ideal customer experiences. A panel of judges including Gartner analysts, 1to1 Media and business and academic experts chose winners and finalists in seven categories. Wolters Kluwer was recognised in the Customer Strategy category.

In 2005 Wolters Kluwer moved from a product centric business model to one that placed the focus squarely on the customer. Now customers are happier, retention rates have improved and there has been a dramatic uplift in its marketing campaign responses and sales conversions.

Mike Turner, Wolters Kluwer UK’s Head of Management Information Systems, said “We rolled SAS out as a sales and marketing system but it has become a business management system, used in areas that range from business planning to sales reporting, finances and so on, with key performance indicators built in.”

Turner added “SAS has become our core centralised system for marketing, sales and business activity. Having a strong partner is key, and this has been a genuine partnership with SAS.”

The award was presented at the Gartner Customer Relationship Management Summit in Washington, DC, in September. The awards were published in the Sept. - Oct. 2008 issue of 1to1 Magazine , a special issue of 1to1 Weekly and on the Gartner Web site.
