New director to exploit business opportunities for analytics leader in information economy
23 December 2013 - To drive greater penetration among customers in core product areas, and also develop a wider customer base, Mike Pell has been announced as the new sales director for the UK & Ireland division of SAS, the global leader in business analytics.
His role reflects increasing adoption of advanced analytics by not just the largest organisations that have used analytics over many years, but also other businesses including some smaller, medium-sized enterprises. This is being made possible by businesses, consumers and other organisations producing more and more data, creating new opportunities for analytics in what the UK government has described as the information economy. In addition, developments in data visualisation technology and analytics-as-a-service solutions, which are easy to use, mean there is less need for in-house expertise.
Mike Pell joins from Oracle, where he spent seven years running the Business Intelligence Analytics team for the UK, Ireland and Nordics regions. He has 18 years' experience in senior sales and marketing roles in the analytics industry.
He will report to Mark Wilkinson, managing director for SAS UK & Ireland, who commented: "The use of analytics has become critical across diverse industries to support not only daily decision making, using insights derived from data rather than gut instinct, but also to improve business innovation, creation and efficiency.
