SAS Driving Dynamic Growth in Scotland Despite the Downturn
Bucks Economic Trend by Recruiting Local Staff and Investing in R&D and New Facilities across East Kilbride Region
11 July 2011 - SAS has announced that it is continuing to grow rapidly in Scotland, despite the current downturn and the ongoing squeeze on public sector investment. The company has plans to hire an additional 15 staff in the East Kilbride region to support its public security business unit and to make a further investment in its facilities including upgrades to its existing offices in the town.
SAS' positive growth comes at a time when most businesses in the region are tightening their belts and making further cuts.
"Our focus on growth is helping to counter ongoing decline in Scottish manufacturing," says Ian Manocha, managing director, SAS UK & Ireland. "In line with Alex Salmond's focus on growing Scottish jobs, recruits are typically drawn from the Scottish talent pool, including many of the country's leading universities."
Broad Product Offering
Through its public security business unit, SAS offers a comprehensive portfolio of products to the law enforcement community across Scotland designed to help improve intelligence processes, enhance public safety and prevent and deter crime, terrorism and other threats.
SAS is consistently pushing the boundaries in terms of the quality and innovation of its solutions portfolio.
"Our strong technology focus is backed by a robust commitment to R&D within the west of Scotland, which will require ongoing investment, and will also be a source of job creation within the local area," says Manocha. "This focus will also help us to ensure a continuous stream of innovative public security solutions to meet ever more sophisticated market needs.
SAS’ success in the region is built on the solid foundation of the Memex brand, which has had resonance in the Scottish market ever since the company was founded in 1979 and established its headquarters in the East Kilbride region. SAS acquired Memex in June 2010, and has now created a public security business unit, with the Memex intelligence solution a core part of the SAS public security framework.
SAS' public security business unit provides solutions designed to help improve intelligence processes, enhance public safety, and prevent and deter crime, terrorism and other threats. Via SAS and complementary Memex solutions, the company can now provide a comprehensive tactical and strategic solution around the world for law enforcement, national security, border agencies and fusion centres.
