SAS UK wins Prince's Trust award for outstanding contribution to charity

Ian Manocha, managing director SAS UK, presented with 'David Haye' award by The Prince's Trust Technology Leadership Group (TLG) at 'The Gherkin' in London

14 December 2010 - SAS, the leader in business analytics, today announces that The Prince's Trust Technology Leadership Group has awarded SAS UK the 'David Haye' award for its contribution to the youth charity.

The award was presented to Ian Manocha, managing director at SAS UK, at an event at 'The Gherkin' building in London to recognise the company's fund-raising efforts. SAS UK was commended for raising £14,000 for the Palace to Palace cycle ride, outstripping its original target by £9,000, and the £2,000 the company has raised so far for employee teams participating in two challenges to Costa Rica and the Himalayas.

"The work everyone at SAS has done in 2010 to support The Princes Trust has been truly amazing.  It really has been a team effort and it is fabulous to have this recognition," comments Ian.

"We are making a difference to the lives of many young people that The Princes Trust supports, and it is also wonderful to see how rewarding it is for all the SAS people that are getting involved.  It was great to be part of the team of 50 who took part in the Palace to Palace cycle, and there is a lot of support now for everyone who is taking part in the challenges in March 2011.  In fact, we are approaching 70% of our fund-raising target for the two challenges. It is inspiring to see SAS folks showing that they care about our community and really want to help less fortunate young people achieve their full potential."

Adam Hale, Chairman, The Prince's Trust Technology Leadership Group, says, "We are the de facto corporate social responsibility group for technology, media and telecoms companies in the UK with big name participants including BT and Oracle. The 'David Haye' award is one of just five that were presented so it's an incredible accomplishment for SAS UK."

He added: "The money that has been raised by SAS UK will go towards reducing the number of young people facing long term unemployment through a series of important voluntary programmes, which is more important than ever given the current economy. The funds that SAS has raised have helped The Prince's Trust Technology Leadership Group to achieve its ambitious target of raising £10million by the end of November 2010, and the group couldn't have done it without the help of SAS UK and its dedicated employees."
