Big Data on the menu at Gartner BI and Analytics Summit

High-performance analytics crucial to growth of information economy

10 March 2014 - SAS, the global leader in business analytics, and one of the Leaders in the Gartner Inc. Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platforms , will be talking big data at the Gartner Business Intelligence and Analytics Summit today, March 10.

"We're sponsoring this event because advanced analytics will be the foundation of the information economy for years to come," said Laurie Miles, Head of Analytics, SAS UK & Ireland. "We want to demonstrate that we're talking about way more than just data mining or descriptive analytics. Our customers ZapFi and Creditreform will discuss how SAS® Visual Analytics provides optimisation, forecasting, text analytics, simulation and more. The 1,400 new licenses for SAS customers in 2013 show that the technology leads the way in advanced analytics."

There will be a SAS Presentation at the Summit entitled 'Visual Analytics in Mobile Marketing and in Credit Risk Management'. Mark Torr, Director of the Analytical Platform Centre of Excellence at SAS, will be joined by Gerry Pollet, CEO at ZapFi, a mobile marketing company that helps organisations with sophisticated personalised marketing, and Bernd Bütow, COO at Creditreform, Germany's top provider of quality business information and debt collection services.

Advanced analytics takes billions of lines of data and reveals insights to deepen customer understanding, improve operational efficiency, expose risks and promote organisational success.

"Our aim is to discuss how data discovery, visualisation, analytics and reporting all comes together to give businesses the power to know. The benefit of the SAS approach is that customers select only the capabilities required," continued Miles. "This means organisations become more profitable, more productive and more successful."

The SAS Analytics portfolio also includes innovative, in-memory computing to support customers requiring high-performance analytics to handle big data and other complex environments. SAS continually champions new and emerging technologies with its analytics, including Hadoop's big data architecture, cloud computing deployments, improved usability and open-source integration.

SAS advanced analytics, combined with industry- or task-specific expertise, is the foundation for many horizontal or vertical analytics applications. These include solutions for risk management, anti-fraud, customer intelligence and other domain-specific offerings.

"Our customers demand more than model development from SAS software," said Miles. "Models have to be accurate, robust and easily deployed within business processes. SAS fully supports that complete analytics life cycle."
