SAS UK officially unveils new pavilion to support local community29 April 2009 - Marlow based, SAS UK, the leader in Business Analytics software, is unveiling its newly built pavilion. The recently completed pavilion will provide much needed facilities for the local cricket team from Medmenham village and will be used by the Marlow scout group. Furthermore, the cricket pitch and pavilion will be made available for use by other local cricket clubs as well as neighbouring schools to ensure that the community achieves maximum benefit from the facility. The pavilion will be officially opened on the 29th April 2009 at 4pm by Roz Bond, widow of the late Phil Bond. Phil was the Managing Director of SAS UK from 1985 to 2004 and the pavilion will be dedicated to his memory. Keith Valder, Chief Operating Officer of SAS UK, who led the project states: “Phil lived in Medmenham and had close links with the Medmenham Cricket Club and the scouts, as well as being a governor to Danesfield School. For these reasons, SAS UK, alongside his widow Roz, felt that the pavilion would be a fitting and lasting legacy to Phil. We hope that it will become a real asset to everyone within the local community, be they cricketers, scouts or school children.” The official opening will be followed by the annual SAS UK versus Medmenham Cricket Club match played for the Phil Bond Trophy. The opening of the pavilion follows SAS UK’s 2006 restoration of the original cricket pitch within its grounds beside the Thames. The inaugural game was played between SAS and Medmenham on 10th May 2006, after the cricket pitch was completed. This game then became established as the yearly match for the Phil Bond Trophy, which is presented to the winning team by Roz Bond.
Building of the pavilion began on the 1st October 2008 and was completed on 4th March 2009.
