What do I need to participate?

All you need to attend Live Web classes is a Web browser with sound and a microphone or a telephone.

How do I register?

Simply book online in the usual way.

What happens after I register?

Once you have registered you will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to join the class three business days before the class begins. The instructions e-mail includes a link to download the course materials. You need to download and print the course materials prior to the start of the class.

Course Participation

Pre-course Preparation

• Read the Live Web Quick Reference guide (PDF).
• Download your class materials in advance.
• Join your class 15 minutes before scheduled start time.

System Requirements

For most Live Web classes you will complete the course exercises through our virtual lab. The virtual lab allows you to access the software used in the class over the internet so you won't need it installed on your machine.

The following operating systems are suitable for Live Web classes:

• Microsoft Windows
• Mac OS
• Linux
• Solaris

Audio

The audio for this course is delivered through Voice over IP. For this you will need some headphones or headset which you can plug into your PC. If your computer does not have this functionality then you can also connect to the meeting through an audio conference.

Course Materials

To obtain the course materials you need

• the ability to download an installation file (.exe) from the internet or
• an unzipping utility application (i.e. WinZip or PKZip)

To view and print the course materials, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download available).

For best printing results select the Acrobat printer icon in the top left corner of the document instead of printing from the browser window.

How do I know if I've set up correctly?

Testing the Web Conference Set-up

To verify that your computer will access the Web conference successfully,

• perform a diagnostic test for your computer. This will check for the supported version of Flash Player and the Acrobat Connect Add-in, among other items; however, you do not need the Add-in to connect to a Live Web class.
• ensure you can view a SAS Live Web preview class:
• Click the following Meeting URL or enter it in your browser: https://sas.connectsolutions.com/preview/
  On the page that appears,
  - select "Enter as a Guest"
  - type your name
  - select the "Enter Room" button
• Once this preview loads, you will see a slide show that advances slides every 4 seconds. If you see this, then your system is ready for a SAS Live Web class.

Testing the Virtual Lab Set-up

Most, but not all, Live Web classes use the virtual lab. If your class uses the virtual lab, complete the following:

• run this test to verify that your computer can connect to a virtual lab session through your firewall
• if you are not able to connect to the virtual lab, click here to contact Live Web Technical Support.
