Developing Java Web Applications Using SAS AppDev Studio Plug-ins

This course introduces a method for developing Web applications that use the power of server-side Java to generate dynamic content. Using the Eclipse development environment and the SAS AppDev Studio 3.2 Eclipse Plug-ins, you learn to build JavaServer Pages and servlet applications that instantly connect to SAS servers.

Prerequisites

Before attending this course, you should have knowledge of object-oriented programming as well as basic HTML and Java programming experience. Familiarity with the SAS Enterprise Intelligence Platform is helpful. You can gain the SAS knowledge by completing the Overview of SAS Business Intelligence and Data Integration Applications course. To be completely successful in this course, you should be able to perform the following tasks using the Java programming language:

  • Use primitive data types to store data within variables
  • Use operators, decision constructs, and loop constructs
  • Work with elements in an array
  • Create and initialize an object
  • Invoke a method on an object
  • Understand the use of import statements for library access.
