Description

This course is designed for users who are new to SAS software. The course provides a solid grounding in the basic concepts of accessing data from different sources and manipulating, analysing and reporting on the data within SAS. Using SAS to investigate and summarise your data, producing list, summary, HTML and graphical relationship reports will greatly enhance efficiency and accuracy when analysing and predicting your data trends.

Prerequisite Skills

An understanding of your operating system.

Base SAS, SAS/GRAPH and SAS/ACCESS.

Introduction

  • overview of SAS
  • getting started with SAS.

Accessing Data

  • accessing existing SAS data sets
  • reading raw data files
  • reading Microsoft Excel files
  • accessing a RDBMS (optional).

Managing Data

  • reading SAS data sets and creating new columns
  • controlling output of rows and columns
  • conditional processing using IF…THEN… ELSE
  • sorting SAS data sets
  • combining SAS data sets
  • recoding data values.

Analysing Data

  • creating frequency reports
  • Proc MEANS and Proc SUMMARY
  • the UNIVARIATE procedure (self-study)
  • exporting data using the Output Delivery System.

Presenting Data

  • titles, footnotes and SAS options
  • generating reports using the PRINT procedure
  • Proc REPORT
  • Proc TABULATE (self-study)
