SAS wins  NCTA 21 Education Leadership Award

Analytics leader supports education at all levels through technology and philanthropy

CARY, NC  (15. Nov. 2010)  – SAS was honored for championing programs that integrate technology into education to engage students, empower teachers and teach 21st century skills, such as advanced data analysis. SAS received the NCTA 21 Education Leadership Award from the North Carolina Technology Association at a gala event Wednesday.

In December 2008, SAS CEO Jim Goodnight made SAS® Curriculum Pathways® available free to all US educators. Used by thousands of students and teachers in every state, the Web-based resource for high schools, community colleges, virtual schools and home schools provides content in the core disciplines of English, mathematics, social studies, science and Spanish.

SAS allows professors to integrate SAS software into instruction at no cost. The company also supports efforts such as 1:1 laptop learning, algebra readiness, SAS programming for high schools and a master's degree in advanced analytics at North Carolina State University. Through these programs and others, along with committed employee volunteers, SAS has reached more than 47,000 teachers and 150,000 students.

The NCTA 21 Awards are recognized as North Carolina's most prestigious awards, celebrating innovation and excellence in the state. This annual showcase honors companies and individuals who represent the best and brightest in technology and business across 21 categories.

"SAS is committed to integrating technology into education to improve student engagement and performance, and reduce dropout rates," said Armistead Sapp, Senior Director, Education Practice, for Cary, NC-based SAS. "We launch many of our efforts in our own backyard and we're honored that NCTA would recognize our contributions to North Carolina's students, and students everywhere."
