Mark Torr, International Technology Strategy Manager SAS International
As Technology Strategy Manager, Mark Torr leads a team of strategists, product managers and programme managers at SAS' International headquarters. Torr and his team liaise with customers, partners and industry analysts to ensure that SAS understands the rapidly developing market requirements that span the SAS Enterprise Intelligence Platform including the architecture of the platform; SAS Metadata; SAS Storage; SAS Data Integration (which includes technologes for Data Connectivity, ETL, Data Migration, Data Synchronization, Data Federation and Data Quality) and SAS Business Intelligence. His team provides direction and support to research and development teams and ensures that market requirements are effectively translated into viable software solutions.
The technology strategy team also manages the product strategy and roll-out of new versions of the SAS Enterprise Intelligence platform both internally and into the SAS International Market. Torr was one of the principle thought leaders behind the SAS Enterprise Intelligence Platform and its accompanying technologies and has been an intrigued
Torr joined SAS Institute in 1997. In 1999 he became EMEA product manager for SAS Web and wireless based solutions. In 2002 he assumed responsibility for the product marketing and strategy of the whole platform in the International region. He is one of the Institute's leading specialists in Web technologies, focusing in particular on assessing the impact of emerging technologies on SAS customers.
Torr holds a 1st Class Honours degree in Special Software Engineering from Hull University, England.
