CARY, NC (26 febbraio 2009) – Jim
Goodnight, CEO of SAS, leader in business
analytics software and services, has been named one of the 100
Most Influential in Business Ethics by Ethisphere.com.
Goodnight was heralded within the Design and Sustainability category
for releasing SAS® for
Sustainability Management in April 2008.
SAS for Sustainability Management helps organizations accurately measure
and manage their environmental impact. The solution introduced the
first decision-support software platform for proactively identifying
innovative strategies that effectively address complex environmental,
social and economic situations while achieving stakeholder objectives.
SAS uses the solution itself to gather, measure, and analyze its sustainability
performance.
Ethisphere
reported that “Goodnight decided to step a little bit out
of his element and develop analytic software that gives metrics to
the “green” factor of a company. The metrics take into
account greenhouse gas emissions, resource utilization, ethical sourcing
and regulatory compliance – a very comprehensive set of data
to grade a company on. Many of the criteria for the software are
based on Global Reporting Initiative ranking methodologies.”
Ethisphere’s “Design and Sustainability” category
notes those who substantially contributed to or led a product or service
redesign, which resulted in less natural resource use, or increased
consumer acceptance of sustainability without diminishing the quality
of the original product or service.
Other honorees in “Design and Sustainability” include
Mike Barry - Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Marks & Spencer,
for continuing the company’s 100 point plan to become carbon
neutral; Sudhanshu Pokhriyal – Director Hyderabad & Coastal
Andhra Pradesh Operations for Coca-Cola, for water conservation; and
Virginia D. Klein – Executive Director for the Institute for
Integrated Rural Development, for promoting development alternatives
through the initiatives of groups of rural poor in the Maharashtra
State in India.
The 100 Most Influential in Business Ethics list rewards individuals
specifically for their influence in 2008, rather than over the course
of their career.
