Dave Thomas Foundation recognizes top 100 employers nationwide

Milano (3 maggio 2007) – The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption named SAS, the leader in business intelligence, among the top 100 adoption-friendly employers nationally. With its “Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces” list, the foundation honors companies with adoption benefits and policies that assist and encourage families to grow through adoption, with a special focus on adopting children from foster homes.

“At SAS, we demonstrate our commitment to families through adoption benefits, substantially subsidized on-site childcare and on-site work/life adoption resources,” says Jeff Chambers, Vice President of Human Resources at SAS. “These initiatives are the right things to do for working families.”

SAS offers benefits to growing families of employees, regardless of whether they choose to grow through adoption or biologically. These benefits include:

Financial assistance for the reimbursement of eligible, incurred expenses up to $5,000 per adoption.
Up to four weeks (20 working days) of fully paid leave for new mothers and fathers who are full-time employees. Free parenting resources for families with children through work/life facilities and programs, including short-term counseling and consultations with clinicians, financial specialists and legal experts. Each of these benefits may prove invaluable for families facing the challenges and stresses of adoption.

“The generous offerings not only provided some financial relief but also helped us focus on the most miraculous part of life – having a child,” says Christine Gergle, adoptive mother and SAS employee. “I believe the fundamental benefit of SAS’ support lies in knowing that I work for a company that values families and its employees’ desires to grow their families and respects the emotional and physical requirements of having a child, regardless of how that happens.”
