CARY, NC (Oct. 31, 2007) – Jim Goodnight, CEO of
SAS, the leader in business intelligence, was honored for his role as
a global thought leader whose participation with international organizations,
including the World Economic Forum and the Atlantic Council, has enhanced
North Carolina’s presence on the world stage. The International
Affairs Council (IAC) presented Goodnight its 2007 Citizen of the World
award at a dinner, the signature event of the IAC, held October 25 at
Raleigh’s North Ridge Country Club.
Given annually, the award recognizes the North Carolinian who has
done the most for the internationalization of the state.
Goodnight is the thirteenth North Carolinian to be recognized by IAC.
Previous winners include former North Carolina governors Terry Sanford
and James B. Hunt Jr.; Dr. Leroy Walker, President Emeritus of the
US Olympic Committee and President of the 1999 Special Olympic World
Summer Games; and Robert Ingram, President and CEO of GlaxoSmithKline.
