CARY, NC (Nov. 19, 2007) – SAS, the leader in business intelligence, received top honors as Software Company of the Year at the North Carolina Technology Association’s 2007 NCTA 21 Awards. “SAS has been a dedicated technology member company of NCTA over the years, and it is fitting that the largest privately-owned software company, with its global headquarters here in North Carolina, was awarded this year’s NCTA 21 Award for Software Company of the Year,” said Anne McClelland, Senior Director at Microsoft Corporation and 2007 Vice Chair of the NCTA Board of Directors. “This is the first time SAS has won this award, and we look forward to SAS continuing their excellent partnership with NCTA. Together, all of the NCTA member companies will strive to make technology No. 1 in North Carolina and North Carolina No. 1 in technology.” “We are honored to be named Software Company of the Year,” said Keith Collins, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. “For SAS, it’s all about providing comprehensive technology solutions that empower organizations to leverage their own data to make better business decisions.” Recognized as North Carolina’s largest, most prestigious technology awards, the NCTA 21 Awards promote and celebrate innovation and high-tech excellence in the state. This annual showcase honors 21 companies and individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership and innovation in five categories. “The NCTA 21 Awards recognizes companies and individuals in North Carolina for their diligence and innovation in implementing successful business plans, excelling in the marketplace and their contributions to the community,” said Bob Hawkins, 2007 Chairman of the NCTA Board of Directors. “We look forward to this event every year so we can celebrate not only the finalists but all the companies and individuals who actively promote the growth of knowledge-based jobs in North Carolina.” Winners were recognized Nov. 15 at the NCTA’s annual awards gala, themed “A Blockbuster Year.” More than 500 executives and leaders attended the event from across the state.
