SAS ranked n° 1 in “Best Place to Work in Belgium 2010”

Business analytics leader SAS Institute got the first place in the “Best places to work in Belgium 2010” survey that is conducted annually by the Great Place to Work® Institute.

SAS won the prestigious award while at the same time delivering strong financial results in Belgium & Luxembourg.

Results from SAS show that:

• 96 percent of employees are proud to tell others they work for the company.
  
  
• 94 percent believe management trusts employees without “looking over their shoulders.
  
  
• 92 percent feel they are given responsibility.
  
  
• 97 percent think that SAS is a fun place to work.

“Early 2009, our CEO, Jim Goodnight said there would be no layoffs. This statement in a tough economic environment showed his commitment to the company and our employees. By taking away this insecurity, our employees could focus on their job and on the customers’ needs.

“This ranking is the result of continued efforts over the years. It has always been our culture to listen to our employees and to take their feedback to improve our work environment and work-life balance. This is the third year SAS participates in the Great Place to Work contest in Belgium (companies with less than 500 employees) and last year SAS was ranked second.

Companies are selected for the Best Companies list based on 2 criteria: 

1. Their employees' responses to the Great Place to Work® Trust Index©, a proprietary employee survey developed by the Great Place to Work® Institute. In Belgium, the survey is an initiative of Vlerick’s HRM Centre in collaboration with the Great Place to Work Institute Europe.
   
   
2. A dossier explaining the company’s strategy and actions to make it a great place to work.
