SAS Analytic Intelligence Award 2008:NuonNuon is an energy provider new to the Belgian market investing heavily in sustainable energy; almost 60% of their current electricity supply comes from water, wind and sun. Sustainability is a driver for their company and they need to find customers with a common vision for meeting the energy needs of the future. Nuon’s challenge was to evolve from a rather common, mass-marketing approach, to a customer-centric approach in order to deliver the right offer to the right customer, through the right channel, at the right time. To reach this goal, they decided to use SAS® Data Mining to segment their customers. In the first instance, such segmentation gives a better picture of what characterizes the typical Nuon customer. Later, it informs the timing, content, and channel of the actual acquisition and retention campaigns. Nuon, part of the Dutch Nuon Energyholding, is active in Belgium since 2002 and headquartered in Vilvoorde. It is a leading "Challenger" in the market that delivers standard electricity, green electricity and gas for residentials & professionals. Ms Sarah Van Laere, Customer Insight Expert and Mr. Christophe Degrez, Director Retail & Customer Care Services, accepted the award
SAS Business Solutions Award 2008:AviapartnerAviapartner handles passengers, cargo and airplanes at 37 different airports in 5 European countries... The key factors to success at Aviapartner are the ability to report and forecast frequently what the coming months will bring in terms of:
The data for these reports and forecasts reside in 7 different systems and to do their monthly reporting and forecasting Aviapartner uses the SAS platform to pull the data out of these systems and place them in a single location. Getting several people from 30+ different locations to report and forecast in a consistent manner is a challenge. The fact that all data now resides in a single location and that by using SAS Financial Management they now have a structured and standardized approach, helped them overcome this. The award was handed over to Koen Dils, International Project Manager. Best Paper AwardDuring the Forum the attendees could rate every presentation. The presentation with the highest score was the one from FPS Economy, “Enterprise Data Warehousing in FPS Economy”. Abstract of the presentation: The core business of the FPS Economy is among other things to provide relevant information to its stakeholders; the citizens, companies… in order to contribute to a well-balanced growth of the economy. To make this information available in an efficient and flexible way, different re-engineering and process improvement projects have been launched in the past few years. One of these projects was the introduction of a Business Intelligence strategy and platform, for which FPS Economy choose SAS.
