3 Customers awarded with the SAS Intelligence Awards

Tervuren, Oct 13, 2005 – During SAS Forum Belgium & Luxembourg, SAS’ annual Business Intelligence Conference, on Thursday 13 October in the Aula Magna in Louvain-la-Neuve, SAS awarded 3 customers for their strategic and innovative projects realised with SAS solutions. The 3 awards are Enterprise Business Intelligence Award, Business Analytics Award and Business Solutions Award.

SAS Enterprise Business Intelligence Award:

SPF Santé publique, Sécurité de la Chaîne alimentaire et Environnement – FOD Volksgezondheid, Veiligheid van de voedselketen en Leefmilieu (FPS Public Health)

Evolving towards a more efficient organisation, the FPS has made significant efforts toward defining its new architecture platform, and has chosen SAS as a strategic partner for its organisation-wide business intelligence standard. Gradually moving towards a business intelligence competence centre concept and structure, the organisation is using SAS® solutions for business intelligence and is implementing (among others) SAS ETL to become more streamlined, efficient and timely in providing information to both its internal and external clients and suppliers. In the past, they spent 95% of their time collecting the data and preparing it for interpretation. With the new SAS platform, this has been reduced to 25%. They can now spend the remaining 75% on analyzing the information.

The FPS Public Health uses SAS to help them collect, store and analyse medical data from more than 200 hospitals, group practices and physiotherapists. The standard and dynamic reports generated with this information help the FPS to determine correct hospital funding. Thanks to the SAS BI Platform, they can now quickly and easily simulate parameters to test changes before putting them into effect. They can benchmark the performance of hospitals to mean values and retrieve information for formulating specific policy recommendations. This also allows them to identify problems and inform the government about them.

SAS Business Analytics Award:

AXA Bank

Risk is a key parameter associated with granting credit. It is also an issue recently addressed by Basel II regulations. Seen by many as a constraint, AXA Bank understood from the start that these new rules could also generate business opportunities. With the help of the SAS Credit Risk Management solution, AXA Bank has greatly improved its risk management and optimized its workflow. Credit related decisions are now more decentralized. And the bank has a much better overall knowledge of its customers and portfolios.

SAS Business Solutions Award:

Deceuninck

In an increasingly complex business environment, traditional “costing methods” are not sufficient anymore. That’s why Deceuninck already started introducing Activity-Based Costing back in 1995 to get to know the real costs of products, supply-chain processes, … Today, all important management decisions concerning products, processes, customers, … are taken after thorough analysis with the SAS ABC/ABM model, to understand the impact on the bottom-line. Deceuninck evolved into an organization where Activity-Based Management is completely integrated in management’s thinking and decision making.
