SAS Australia establishes new overall Sales Director roleSydney (09 Mar 2009) – The Australian arm of SAS – the leader in business analytics and the largest independent business intelligence vendor – has appointed Andrew Batchelor as Sales Director. He reports to Gordon Clubb – SAS Australia and New Zealand Managing Director – who said of the appointment, “This is a newly created position which leverages our strengths by consolidating all sales functions and industry approaches under one leader”. Accordingly, Batchelor assumes responsibility for both new business sales and customer development across all industry sectors Australia-wide, including Government. He is based at the company’s Sydney Head Office. Addressing the people who now report to him, Batchelor said he chose to join SAS because, “Everyone wants to go with a winner and there is no doubt that this company is best positioned to deliver what managements now need more urgently than ever – namely the means to make better informed decisions and make them faster. “In looking around for the right job to bring me back to Australia, I saw SAS, with its focus on – and clear leadership in – business analytics as being the obvious choice. SAS analytics are decidedly best practice and our armoury is rich in solutions which are referenceable, repeatable and low risk.” Andrew Batchelor came to SAS from MessageLabs where he was the London-based Director, EMEA Strategic Accounts and UK Enterprise Business. Earlier he was Oracle Corporation’s Regional Director for New South Wales, Queensland and New Zealand, having come to Australia from his role as New Zealand Country Manager for PeopleSoft. In all, including four years with Computer Associates in New Zealand, he brings to SAS a 20-year record of outstanding sales achievement. An inveterate traveller, sportsman and lover of fine food, Batchelor lists as recent highlights in his non-work life – attending the Michelin cooking school in Piemonte and a timed descent of the Olympic bobsled run at St Moritz.
