SAS Among KMWorld's 100 Companies that Matter in Knowledge Management

KMWorld editorial staff and writers, KM practitioners, theorists, analysts, vendors and their customers compile the 100 list 

SYDNEY, Australia  (26 Feb 2007)  –  For the fourth consecutive year, KMWorld magazine has named SAS, the leader in business intelligence, among 100 Companies that Matter in Knowledge Management. The list – compiled by KMWorld editorial staff and writers, knowledge management practitioners, theorists, analysts, and vendors and their customers – identifies visionary companies that are making a difference in knowledge management.

According to KMWorld, there were slightly more than 1,500 companies under the umbrella of knowledge management in 2006. Knowledge management is defined as a range of practices used by organizations to identify, create, represent and distribute information for reuse, awareness and learning across organizations. SAS supplies its customers with software solutions, training and technical support that enable its customers to better capture and harness the power of their data. These offerings range from information management and customer management to enterprise risk management and performance management.

"If there is a single trait shared by the companies on the list, it is their determination to treat the entire constituency chain, from top to bottom, with respect and without hubris," according to Hugh McKellar, Editor in Chief of KMWorld magazine. "Clearly, attitude alone doesn’t warrant inclusion on the list; attitude must be accompanied by elegance in the design and implementation of their software."
