Leading BI vendor honored at the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards
Sydney, June 27th 2006
- SAS, the leader in business intelligence, today announced that the company has been named the 2006 Business
Intelligence Vendor of the Year at the Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards.
This is the third consecutive year that SAS has earned this distinction from Frost & Sullivan, serving as an
endorsement of SAS’ overall market leadership and growth in the Asia Pacific region.
SAS was selected for this award following a rigorous process by which Frost & Sullivan and a panel of
independent judges benchmarked key players in the business intelligence (BI) segment. Contenders were evaluated
on actual market performance indicators for the twelve months to end-December 2005, which include growth in
revenue and market share, leadership in product innovation, breadth of products and solutions, major customer
acquisitions, and business and market strategy.
“Many enterprises are facing an uphill task in devising effective competitive strategies due to information
symmetry in the digital age. Most are digging deeper into their data piles to draw some actionable insights,
said Nitin Acharekar, head of Enterprise Research at Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific. “While the business
intelligence industry continues to grow on the back of this scramble to outwit competitors, the value is tilting
toward applications away from tools due to the increasing commoditisation of data integration, reporting and
query, and analytical tools.”
“SAS has exploited this trend to not only become the market leader but also become one of the fastest growing
BI vendors in the Asia Pacific region,” added Acharekar.
Commenting on the award, Gordon Clubb, managing director of SAS Australia and New Zealand, said,
"Recognition by such a prestigious global consultancy as Frost & Sullivan that we are the leading BI vendor is
most gratifying. Moreover, being so recognized not once, not twice, but three years in a row, is irrefutable
testimony to the excellence of our products and services, and the quality and commitment of our people.”
A key factor for SAS in the evaluation was its continued high level of investment in research and development, which amounted to 24 percent of SAS’ US$1.68 overall revenue in 2005. This award comes in the year that SAS celebrates 30 years of investment in and delivery of business intelligence solutions.
SAS provides a comprehensive enterprise intelligence platform – including data integration, intelligence
storage, advanced analytics and traditional business intelligence applications – across 14 industry solutions.
