Gordon Clubb
Regional Director, South East Asia
and
Managing Director, SAS Australia & New Zealand

Gordon Clubb

Gordon Clubb is the Regional Director of SAS South East Asia and the Managing Director of SAS Australia and New Zealand. He joined the company in 2001 as Managing Director at a time of declining growth and market share and quickly set about changing the focus, culture, capability and direction of the local operation.

With a personal goal of tripling revenue, Clubb used his broad range of management skills to accelerate sales growth, while at the same time driving a strong customer focus and an employee satisfaction program.

His efforts were rewarded in 2010 with SAS Australia and New Zealand achieving a record level of customer retention at 97 per cent. For the third consecutive year, SAS has been acknowledged as one of the best companies to work for in Australia, as judged by the International Great Place to Work Institute.

Clubb's leadership has resulted in consistent year on year doubling of operating profit, a tripling of total revenue, and growing software revenue to 3.5 per cent of the SAS worldwide total. In recognition of his leadership, SAS Australia and New Zealand was awarded SAS Outstanding Country Awards in 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2010.

His individual style sees a commitment to teamwork and personal involvement with a focus on effective communication and organisational alignment - this influence can be traced as a direct result of his sporting success in International Rowing at the Australian level. His strong belief that if you look after your people, they in turn will look after your customers who will in turn look after your revenue was cemented by the results of an independent staff survey in 2010, where 95 per cent of local employees indicated they were proud to work for SAS.

Clubb is also credited with strengthening the company's strategic partnerships with leading entities such as Accenture, and has been responsible for the successful integration of a number of regional acquisitions in the area of Marketing Resource Management, Risk Management and in the Hospitality industry.

With experience in venture capital markets, startup situations and as a frontrunner in the due diligence team for what was, at the time, Australia's largest corporate takeover, Clubb has earned his reputation as a leading executive.

Clubb delivered organisational change programs at Xerox Corporation (where he was a member of the Global Business Futures Network), Vodafone (as a member of their Global Growth Strategy Team) and now at SAS where he is driving the company's regionalisation initiative. He was a founding member of the Australian Sales Institute which reinforces his belief in the need for organisations to have a strong sales focus in an increasingly competitive environment.

In addition to his role as the Regional Director for SAS South East Asia, Clubb is a member of the SAS Board of Directors for EMEA and Asia Pacific. He is a member of a number of professional bodies including the National Institute of Accountants, Australian Institute of Company Directors, Australian Marketing Institute and represented SAS at the World Economic Forum on East Asia.
