Brendon Smyth - General Manager, Risk IntelligenceSAS Australia & New Zealand
SAS Institute Australia appointed Brendon Smyth as General Manager, Risk Intelligence, for Australia and New Zealand in December 2007. He is based at the company’s ANZ regional head office in Sydney and his brief covers the complete risk management area, including compliance matters and a strong focus on anti-money laundering and fraud management solutions.He is responsible for the ongoing promotion of these solutions to Tier 1 banks and other financial institutions; for extending the company’s reach into Tier 2 and 3 financial institutions; and for more aggressively introducing SAS risk management expertise in markets other than the financial sector, including government. Before joining SAS, Brendon Smyth was the Risk and Compliance Solution Leader for IBM Global Services, Australia and New Zealand, having joined IBM as a consequence of its acquisition of PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting. He was with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a risk management specialist for eight years, of which four were spent living and working in the UK and elsewhere in Europe, and two in Asia. His extensive international experience results from having undertaken major consulting projects for clients in Belgium, France, Hong Kong, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK and USA, as well as in Australia and New Zealand. Brendon Smyth was appointed a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He is also a Chartered Practising Accountant, a Certified Finance and Treasury Professional, and a Certified IBM Consultant in Process Improvement. His other professional affiliations include membership of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists. He gained his Bachelor of Laws (Commercial Law and Taxation) and Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting, Finance & Systems) degrees at the University of New South Wales. |
