Amar Vohra, Head of Marketing COmmunications, SAS Australia & New Zealand
SAS appointed Amar Vohra as Head of Marketing Communications for Australia and New Zealand in September 2003. He is based at the company’s regional head office in Sydney and is responsible directly to the Australia and New Zealand Managing Director for all matters pertaining to SAS’ media and public relations activities, marketing strategy, demand generation programs, advertising, online marketing, and all aspects of internal communications This is a multi-million dollar budget responsibility involving the management of numerous third party suppliers and agencies, as well as multiple direct reports and coordination with other senior SAS employees throughout the organisation. Amar is the company’s primary media spokesperson and in addition to reporting to the Managing Director, is also the formal strategic marketing advisor to the company’s other directors and senior managers. The all-embracing objective of SAS Marketing Communications is to grow and protect the SAS brand and deploy the marketing budget to support sustainable profitable growth and customer satisfaction. Consistently recognised as a top achiever, Amar has won numerous SAS and industry awards for his best practice and successful marketing and public relations campaigns. During his time with SAS, he has transformed the market’s perception of the company and raised it’s brand visibility in the region. Seen previously as a technology vendor, SAS is now uniformly recognised as a trusted business partner delivering sophisticated solutions for bottom line gain and competitive advantage. Before joining SAS, Amar spent over a decade in senior marketing positions in the high tech industry in both Australia and across the Asia Pacific region. His previous role was as Marketing Communications Manager for a global PeopleSoft implementation. He obtained his MBA, majoring in Marketing at Southern Cross University and his BTech at the University of Southern Queensland. His professional affiliations include membership of the Australian Marketing Institute and the Australian Direct Marketing Association. |
