Partnership effort to push for greater Business Analytics uptake within the hospitality and entertainment industry
KUALA LUMPUR, August 19, 2009 - Ascend Solutions Sdn. Bhd., a leading solutions provider for leisure and hospitality industry, today announces its partnership with SAS Malaysia, leader in Business Analytics software and services, to drive for greater adoption of advanced analytics within the region’s largest leisure, hospitality and entertainment group, Genting Malaysia Bhd. (GENM) and others in the industry.
Through its participation in the SAS Alliance Program, Ascend Solutions will play a significant role in advocating Business Analytics know-how to GENM's workforce to glean strategic insights from their wealth of data in order to make faster and better business decisions.
Jimmy Cheah, Managing Director of SAS Malaysia says that it is no longer sufficient for businesses to rely solely on strong business acumen to stay ahead, as the hospitality and entertainment industry is an extremely dynamic and competitive one.
“What is needed now is for businesses to better understand the demand-need patterns of their patrons and customers. Through the use of advanced analytics, greater levels of service standards can be realized”, Cheah adds.
According to Ascend Solutions’ Senior Vice President - Business Development, Thomas Ng, the plan is to roll out Business Analytics adoption initiatives within the Genting Malaysia Berhad and subsequently to their business partners such as the Genting Worldcard merchants.”

Genting Malaysia Bhd recently won the Best Business Enabler award in the MIS Asia IT Excellence Awards 2009, a project[1] undertaken by Ascend Solutions. This award recognizes IT teams that have boosted the ability of an organization to disseminate information internally and exchange it with their partners, creating new revenue streams and improving customer service.
