SAS India sees good market for BI  - June 16, 2004

BUSINESS Intelligence (BI) solutions provider SAS India expects a 40 per cent growth in new sales in the Indian market during the current fiscal.

The company, which grew at about 30 per cent last year, is targeting newer verticals such as the manufacturing and the Government to drive its growth, said Mr Vivek Gokarn, Managing Director and CEO, SAS India Pvt Ltd.

SAS is optimistic about the Government market in India as it feels that BI solutions would be used for data consolidation as e-governance initiatives gain momentum, Mr Gokarn said. The company believes that the traditionally focussed verticals such as BFSI, telecom, pharmaceuticals and the IT and IT enabled services sector will continue to grow. "At the same time, we expect retail, government and manufacturing verticals to provide the required impetus to drive our sales revenue to a higher percentage," he added.

The market for BI in India was still in a nascent stage but the awareness was high, Mr Gokarn said.

The recently launched SAS 9 version of its BI application with enhanced analytics and refined user interfaces, would also contribute significantly to accelerating the company's growth this year, he said. The company has so far 120 installations in the Indian market.
