SAS Developing Retail Intelligence Solutions - April 01, 2004 Pune-based SAS Global Services India (SGS), which is the largest R&D centre of SAS, outside US, and its wholly owned subsidiary, is developing a retail intelligence solution, which would be available for worldwide release later this year . This is being seen as directly related to SAS’ recent acquisition of US-based Marketmax, a company, which was also into retailing. SAS India Managing Director & CEO Vivek Gokarn said that the centre has been churning out industry vertical solutions for the global market. The sectors they have so far catered to include telecommunication, banking and insurance. It has entered the retail sector for the first time and plans to focus on manufacturing as well as the pharmaceutical sectors. Mr Gokarn said that in addition to these developments, SGS has also contributed to the development of SAS 9. SAS 9 is the company’s new platform, with enhanced analytics and refined user interfaces. The new platform connects all SAS applications so that they work together transparently.
