Nov 22, 2004
Jim Goodnight, the chief executive officer of SAS, the leading privately held software company and business intelligence major, is to visit India in December to co-chair sessions at the World Economic Forum's India Summit to be held in New Delhi. Goodnight, who will be on his first visit to the country, is also slated to meet key government officials and business leaders, apart from calling the company's clients in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, a SAS release said here on Monday. He would co-chair a session on 'Unleashing India's Information and Communication Technology Potential', along with Infosys chairman and chief mentor NR Narayana Murthy, it said, adding the panel would also include Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran. Goodnight would also co-chair a session on 'India and the USA: Much Room to Improve', along with Indian foreign secretary Shyam Saran. The 20th India Economic Summit, to be held in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Goodnight had founded SAS in 1976, which later grew from a start-up to a $1.34 billion entity. The company has a 22.5 per cent market share in Indian business intelligence software market. |
