SAS plans R&D centre in Pune SAS, global business intelligence solutions major, will develop its largest research and development (R&D) centre in Pune. The proposed 1,75,000 square feet SAS facility will help the company ramp up its global R&D arm and boost the growth of business intelligence (BI) in the country. "SAS is committed to India as a marketplace, where we have been witnessing a healthy growth for the last few years. This investment reinforces our belief in the country and we are planning to expand further by offering industry-specific solutions," said Jim Goodnight, chief executive officer, SAS. SAS will also look to expand its partnerships with leading Indian IT firms to build on the complementary strengths of these companies and deliver its latest BI solutions to the Indian customers. These partnerships will enable organisations to improve efficiencies and increase economical competitiveness, both in the country and abroad. Other SAS R&D facilities around the globe are located in Denmark, UK, Japan, China and Germany. This is Goodnight's second visit to the country. SAS employs around 175 developers under its SAS Global Services wing that was set up in 1999. |
