SAS gets a new Damaad - August , 2003 SAS Institute Inc, a leading software company that is well known for its business intelligence products has appointed a new CEO for India. Vivek Gokarn a product of IIM, Lucknow has taken over as MD and CEO for SAS India from Gourish Hosangady. Earlier Gokarn was MD of SAS Global services an independent profit centre for sas that he set up four years ago focused on R&D, consulting and support. Gokarn is an old software hand worked for 11 years in CITIL (now -i-flex) before joining SAS. Interestingly SAS might have to give up its claim of being the largest privately-owned software company with 10,000 employees and $ 1.18 billion in revenue to Tata Consultancy Services. After all TCS already has more employee, and revenues too should grow from the present billion dollars. Unless, of course, meetings between merchant bankers and Ratan Tata and S. Ramdorai turn TCS into a public company soon. |
