SAS and Intel collaborate to deliver powerful business intelligence solution

Hong Kong 14 April 2005 - SAS, a leader in business intelligence, in collaboration with Intel Corporation, will bring SAS®9 on the Intel Itanium 2 processor. The collaboration will allow Hong Kong enterprises to benefit from the ease of use of SAS®9 and the Intel Itanium 2 processor powerful memory and data capabilities. Itanium 2 microarchitecture is designed to integrate easily into existing environments. The collaboration which started in the United States in last November has already achieved great success. Pfizer Health Solutions achieved 50% of performance increase using SAS and Intel Itanium 2 processor-based ES7000 server from Unisys, allowing the company to monitor more than a half million of patients without the need to add SAS developers - saving money and gaining time to investigate trends and provide value-added services to clients.  Paving way for the future, SAS and Intel have created an advanced technology lab and research center located on the campus of SAS worldwide headquarters with dedicated personnel from both companies to fulfill the mission of exploring and delivering the latest technologies to maximize benefits for mutual customers.
