SAS Hong Kong Receives the Caring Company Award

SAS Hong Kong has recently been given the Caring Company Award 2004/05, presented by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. This is the 2nd year that we have been given this award in recognition of the enduring efforts in caring for the community and commitment to corporate citizenship - in a strategic partnership with the social service sector.

We have partnered with Hong Kong Family Welfare Society (HKFWS) and supported them in organizing functions for kids and teenagers, who got social problems. Those functions, in form of outings, not only help express our care to the children, but also give some encouragement and convey special messages by having different themes for targeting different groups. On November 27, 2004, we just organized a one-day war game program. That was for a group of 25 teenagers who are internet addicted students. The program aimed to inspire their thinking and help them learn some problem-solving techniques as well as developing their sense of team spirit and task accomplishment. Around March 2005, another program will be co-organized with HKFWS to teach the new immigrants on using computer with the purpose of increasing their marketability during job searching.

"Many companies in Hong Kong, like SAS, have expanded their perspective on community engagement and corporate citizenship, not just by donating money, but by direct and different forms of involvement. I feel excited to have received this recognition. SAS Hong Kong will continue our commitment to community services by organizing various social service activities with our charity partners," said Peter Tsang, Managing Director, SAS Institute Ltd.
